Link Love 4.19.13

The actual moving process might just be the psychological death of me, but I am so excited to be moving to the beach soon, so I can start surfing again. Did you know my husband and I met in Costa Rica? I went by myself to learn how to surf better.

I just came across this site, Surf Mamas, for mamas in beach communities all over the country, swapping babysitting or going to the beach together so Mamas can get a surf session in.

Did you know that some brands of medicine, toothpaste, and vitamins for children have food dyes in them?  Do you know how bad food dyes are for you?  They are straight up poison! Check out my friend’s website, Die, Food Dye!  to sign a petition and learn more.

Good blog post about one of the reasons my husband and I will never spank Penelope.

A cool Facebook con
my friend Adina, of
is doing this month.

Penelope got this doll in her Easter basket and she was thrilled!  She loves to have the mama doll nurse baby doll, then she likes to put mama doll’s shirt back up and put baby in the sling.  If you have a toddler and are planning on being pregnant or are pregnant, I highly recommend getting this doll!  It’s a great way for them to process that when the new baby comes they are going to need to be nursed and carried in a sling a lot.

Warning this website has  A LOT of cussing in it.  BUT it is hilarious.  If you need a good 15 minutes of laughing and are ok with some F-bombs, take the internet bus to this site righthissecond!

Even though part of me is excited to move, I have not been this stressed out in a really, really long time.  I am pulling out all my big gun de-stresser techniques and have been taking a nightly bath with Epsom Salt as one of my tactics.

Soon we will also be heading to California for a week, I am pumped to be traveling again. I will be attending Mom 2.0 conference again this year and the whole family is coming along too.  We are going to be staying with our dear friends in Ventura, CA before the conference and then the conference itself is in Laguna Beach. I have always wanted to go there, so I am excited to check it out.  Here is a good post from the archives about traveling with toddlers.

Love this shot I got of Penelope and it reminded me of one of my favorite quotes.

Small things great love

Penelope asked me to buy her these pink roses while we are at Costco the other day.  I love how much she loves pink flowers.

Do you know about this trick?  If your child has a yeasty rash in her diaper area, you can pour about a cup of raw apple cider vinegar into the bath and it will help to kill the yeast growth.  Or you could pour some on a wash cloth when wiping.

  1. Thank you so much for including my post. I loved all the other links you shared and am excited to connect with you. :) I love finding another kindred spirit.

  2. Thug Kitchen looks awesome!! Thank you for introducing me to it! I also love the picture of Penelope in the grass with the flowers. Great shot! I did link a recent post of mine… This was my first week back to work after being on maternity leave and I wrote about how different my life is now coming home to a baby and a toddler. It has been a rough week but knowing so many mamas are out there going through it too is a huge help to me and I hope I can be a comfort to someone as well!

BTW – I started following you over a year ago and it is AMAZING how much you and your blog have grown since then! It has been a wonderful transformation to watch. Keep up the good work!

  3. Thanks for featuring my post about safe sunscreens! This week I linked up two kid-friendly recipes, and a post about how to avoid the toxins in plastic. Thanks for hosting and have a great week!

  4. OMG!!! Thug kitchen may be the best thing I’ve read. EVER. Thank you so much for that link. I am forever in your debt.

Thank you for including my breastfeeding/baby wearing doll in the love link. The link appears to be broken…here’s another one:

  6. I am going to try your tip tonight with the raw apple cider vinegar… My daughter is suffering from a yeast infection diaper rash and I am hoping that this will help! It seems that prescribed medicines and creams are not helping at all. Wish me luck!
