Link Love 1.25.13

Hello my lovelies!  How was your week?  What are you up to this weekend?

So maybe Link Love is not back like before, last Friday came and went and I didn’t have time to get it up. Sorry.  Maybe twice a month is good enough?  Since I am all for being good enough and not killing yourself to be perfect or reach unattainable goals.

This is a good post about ingredients you never want to see on your nutrition label.

Breast pumps are now covered by insurance! Woot!

Love this Handbook for Life blog post from Prana.

Came across this wonderful woman last week.  She is a photography teacher and uses photography to nourish the mind, body and soul

Her website offers photography classes and lesson for moms to help them live a more connected, empowered, and beautiful life with a camera. She believes in the idea that a camera can not only document our days with our children and capture the fleeting moments but that photography can also give mamas confidence, a deeper sense of purpose and build stronger bonds with her family.

I couldn’t agree more!  My time behind the lens has brought so much beauty and confidence in my life.  And with the blessed invention of Instagram, and blogging for that matter, I now have an outlet to showcase my pictures.  Please check out her site Momtographie.com to learn more!

Speaking of Instagram, you can find me there at MamaAndBabyLove.  Here are few shots from this week.

Penelope and I made this little bird house together.  I thought for sure she would want to paint it 5 million crazy colors but she was very particular about it, she wanted it to be one color and one color only.  She picked out this blue color and I have to say her design sensibility is spot on for a three year old.  :)

One of my favorite Penelope outfits lately.  Leggings from Old Navy, chambray shirt from Land’s End (boys), and a Tory Burch cardigan.  I am very embarrassed that she has a Tory Burch cardigan, but I bought it at the outlet shop in Orlando for 75% off. And I bought it huge so she can wear it for awhile, like I do with all her nice clothes. I would never in a million years put full price designer clothes on a toddler, so don’t judge me please!  And it’s polka dots.  I am such a sucker for polka dots.

I have been nagging my husband for a couple of weeks to bolt Penelope’s dresser to the wall in her room, after reading this horrific story of a child suffocating after a dresser fell on top of her.  After he was done with it, not even an earth quake would make that dresser topple.  Sometimes is good to have an engineer as a husband.  Sometimes.  Most of the time they will just drive you crazy.  Love you, babe!

One of the perks of the bitter cold in January and February is the Japanese Magnolias start blooming here in North Florida, not that its been a cold winter at all this year (or last winter for that matter, gotta love global warming).  They are my favorite flowering tree.   Gonna miss these trees next year when we spend our first winter in South Florida (well, since we were kids, my husband and I were both born there).

Hope you have a great weekend!

They’re only required to provide A breast pump, not an optimal one, or even an electric one. That means, for my policy at least, that it only covers a single manual pump. While it might be nice to have for… something, I guess, it just doesn’t do the job. I think that, while its a step in the right direction, it doesn’t actually do that much. Most people that are committed to bf’ing won’t do it because they now have a free $18 pump, and it’s too hard to use for people who are struggling and/or have time constraints at work.

    • Wha?? That is absurd! Leave to the goverment to turn a good idea into something not helpful at all. Well, like you said, at least it is a step in the right direction.
