Get Beautiful Skin with Oil Cleansing!

OilCleansing

I was beyond skeptical when I first heard of oil cleansing. Um, no, rubbing oil all over my sometimes-oily-skin does not sound like a good plan, BUT then I started doing a little snooping. I would call it research, but really I am not the researching kind. I am more of the “find the info and see what real people say” kind of girl – why I love blogs!

I first saw oil cleansing here at Delighted Momma. I love her blog because it’s full of great info. She makes her own oil cleanser, but I knew I would probably not really be into making my own oil cleanser since it seemed to me it could be easy to go very wrong, very fast.  Here’s what I found out, and down below, where to get some oil cleansers to try on your own.

I found some great info about the benefits and why it works but I will give you the busy-girl-run-down.

  • Oil dissolves oil, so the oil in the cleanser basically attaches to the oil/crap in your skin and removes it.
  • Your skin oils remain. It removes all that dirt without stripping your skin of the oils it needs to be supple and gorgeous.
  • Your skin won’t dry out – or need to produce extra oil because it is dried out from cleansing. The balance will be, well, more balanced. I am one scientific girl, such a way with words, don’t ya think!?

I use oil cleansing every other night. You can see my full skin care routine here. I am not ready for the full removal of that squeaky clean feeling quite yet. The next morning after I use this method my skin always feels super soft, and it might be my imagination, but also a little brighter.

Obviously I want my health care products to be natural and not full of yuck, that is especially important in an oil cleanser.

For my oil cleansing routine, I use this one and love it! Argan oil is everywhere and this lady does it right. It is a little pricey but lasts forever! You could also DIY – but you would want to make sure you are using good organic oils.

Give it a try and let me know what your thoughts are – you might be pleasantly surprised.

I keep reading about oil cleansing and it’s always positive. I may have to try it this year. Thanks!

  2. Good post. I tried an oil cleanser for the first time last year as part of my skin care routine and I loved it too. It leaves the face so supple and plump without feeling greasy. It is a really nice alternative to standard facial cleansers if you find a top quality product. I like using an oil cleanser especially with my winter skin care routine.

  3. I have been oil cleansing my skin for over a year now and I really like it. I get cleaner feeling from it. I have been using a department store brand which makes it frightfully expensive, I’m going to try yours. I’m sure there can’t be that much difference. It really does keep the oil down. I get it that you don’t have that rebound oiliness. But pimples aren’t a problem either. It really seems better.

  4. I just started this method last night with castor oil and olive oil combination. I was shocked that my face didn’t feel like a teenage nightmare of oil when I was done. I’m in my 30′s with cyst acne that I have tried to cure with every store bought regimen and dermatologist prescription you can think of, with minimal or no success so I figured I would give this a try. This morning i splashed a bit of cool water on my face and that was it. With a toddler in the house that extra time not devoted to my skin is appreciated.

    • Awesome. Let me know how that routine is going for you. Also, have you heard of the GAPS diet? In it talks about how healing your digestion can heal your acne and that acne problems is rooted in poor digestion.

  5. I have wanted to try this for me and my son. I just want to have supple soft skin, but my son has terribly oily skin and breaks out all the time. I found that QVC sells this product and Josie will be live in March. They do not offer just the face cleansing oil alone, I think I’ll wait till she is on air and see if they sell this product alone.
