Homeopathy for Morning Sickness

Welcome Piper Martin of The Homeopathic Pregnancy! She is sharing information gold this week!  I have never personally tried these remedies for morning sickness, but I am huge fan of homeopathy.  If I am so blessed to be pregnant again one day, I will for sure be giving these a try. -Stephanie

Homeopathy is a safe, affordable and loving way to support yourself during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period.  It can be used to address both physical and mental/emotional components of distress.  Homeopathy can be used to eliminate fear, shift old beliefs or free you from patterns of living that create illness.

One of the main reasons a woman might seek homeopathy during pregnancy is to deal with the feelings of nausea and vomiting.

There are many remedies that address these sensations.  The more specific you can be in fitting a remedy picture to your own symptom picture, the better the results will be.  Literally if you hit the right remedy you will never need to re-dose, the symptoms will just be gone.

The reason for this is that homeopathy is curative; it is actually your body that creates the change. The remedy just urges your body to shift.  This is very aligned thinking for creating a positive birth experience.

It is an excellent way to practice the belief that your body is capable of creating, giving birth and feeding a child.  If you use homeopathy to create a change then you are reinforcing your ability to use your body in this incredibly powerful manner.

Remedies are safe to take during pregnancy and can significantly impact the intensity and frequency of the symptoms you experience.

The following five remedies are the most commonly used to eliminate nausea and vomiting. Take two pellets of the remedy that most closely matches your symptom picture.  If there is a shift then just wait, the symptoms may not return at all.  If you feel you are dipping again then you can repeat the dose.  A dose is 2 pellets.

Nux vomica 200C- great remedy for morning sickness that feels like a hangover.  Retching, constipation, irritability and headaches.  Especially helpful for women working on addictions and experiencing withdrawal symptoms from alcohol or pot.
Sepia 200C- a good alternative if Nux looked like it fit but did not quite work.  Symptoms  present as:  distant with husband, worse nausea around the dinner hour, hates  meat, especially the smell, exhausted, dragged down feeling.
Ipecacuanha 200C – this is homeopathic  Ipecacuanha.  do not confuse it with the medical version of Ipecacuanha. This is for constant nausea.  Nothing makes it better, even vomiting only gives a brief relief.  Worse in the morning when first rising.
Tabacum 200C –  Violent vomiting with a cold sweat, pale, chilly.  Waves of nausea made worse by the least motion. Desire to spit.  Worse from smell of tobacco.
Cocculus 200C – This remedy has a sensation like motion sickness.  It is nausea that is worse from any motion – especially cars, boats, planes etc.  Aversion to food and drink – metallic taste in the mouth.  Hungry but can’t figure out what she wants to eat.

  1. Ooooh! Thanks for sharing this – I will keep this bookmarked for next pregnancy. I get the *worst* morning sickness.

  2. PERFECT TIMING. I am on week 12 of the WORST morning sickness 24/7 ever imaginable. Tomorrow morning I am hunting this down!!

  3. I will have to bookmark this! My hubby and I are currently TTC, I’m hoping to feel sick very soon! LOL, thats a funny thing to say :)

  4. I would really like to try one of these but am unfamiliar with where to find them? Just a local health food store? I am 5 weeks along with baby #3 – both baby 1 and 2 I was vomitting sick 8 weeks til 20 weeks and with the second I needed prescription to take it away…would love to avoid that if possible! I’m not having symptoms obviously yet so early along but would like to be prepared. I go into each preganacy saying I’m NOT gonna get sick and with the first 2 obviously that was not the case :( I’m currently chasing around a 3 and a 1 year old so I’m not in any position to be ill! Ha!

  5. Thanks Piper – this is excellent. I have written a free e book on all the ways homeopathy can help during pregnancy drop me a line if you’d like a copy.
