Happy, happy Friday!
I am so in the mood for a detox/cleanse, maybe I will try this raw milk fast. Has anyone tried it?
Anything I earn from this blog is essentially all going to Penelope, but this post sure got me thinking.
In case you missed this insane woman doing “baby yoga”, and again for the record its not baby yoga, it’s abuse.
This is what real baby yoga looks like.
I had a guest post over on The Healthy Home Economist this week, about all the natural remedies I did to help me complete my miscarriage on my own and at home. I am so excited to have a guest post on Sarah’s blog, because she is one of the bloggers that inspires me the most, both in the way I want to live and my goals for my own blog. I can’t tell you how many emails I have sent her asking her about nutrition and blogging questions and she always responds.
A dear blogger friend of mine has two posts up (Hide and Seek and Grain by Grain) for Voices of the Year that BlogHer does every year for their big conference. She is an amazing writer and deserves a votey-vote.
What do you think of the new Timeline design for Facebook business pages? I am still getting used to it.
Oh, and I can totally do this. I need a couple of bobby pins in the back for some shorter pieces, but I can do it. Yay! And let me tell you, it makes me feel fa.bu.lous. If you have long enough hair, Do It. You will feel like a super model. Well, maybe a tired super model who just got poop under her finger nails, but a model none the less!
Have a great weekend ya’ll!

Just watched the crazy lady doing baby yoga and I MUST be a mother now…I want to hunt her down and swing her ass around…oh I am SO MAD!

Seriously. It is very maddening.
Hi! I am not trying to sound judgemental at all, and everyone has their own opinions, but I think milk is for baby cows. I read the link about the women cured of lyme disease from the fast, but i believe this was probably because she was eliminating something else that was causing the problem since all she was drinking was the raw milk. Milk has high protein content which causes our bodies to take calcium from our bones (Ever wonder why the US has the highest osteoporosis rates and consumes the most dairy?) in order to return our pH to normal because milk is so acidic (cancer cells thrive in acidic environments). I am in school to become a dietitian and have read a lot about this. I was vegan for a while but recently just added chicken and eggs because it was unrealistic for my family and i was not cooking 2 different options at each meal lol. I’ve noticed a difference from not eating dairy and a lot of problems I had are gone. I’m not saying i am right because i’m not a scientist but ive read a lot of books written by them. Some good books on this are, “The China Study” or “We don’t die, we kill ourselves” or “Skinny Bitch” if your interested. I’m not some weird peta advocate, its more of a health thing for me. But ya, just sharing what has helped me. A Good fast I did which i saw on Oprah is all raw fruits, veggies and nuts for 10 days you can eat as much as you want and I lost 14 lbs!
I don’t know much about the protein content or the ph embalance, but I do know that a lot of people who benefit from not drinking milk is because they only drank pasteurized milk. Raw milk is an entirely different food and the body processes and digests it much easier.
The China Study was one of the worst scientific studies I have ever read. It would be laughable if it weren’t horrifying how many people have messed up their health by following it.. Try reading Nutrition and Physical Degeneration by Dr. Weston Price. He studied cultures all over the world who thrived and lived to long age, some of them even drinking large quantities of milk (and never getting osteoperosis or tooth decay, imagine that), as opposed to a survey of a tiny, remote area of China and some incredibly flawed lab rat studies.
And I would imagine you lost 14lbs because your body wasn’t absorbing any nutrition from your digestive tract trying to grind through a bunch of raw material. Makes me cringe just thinking about the pain of trying to pass all that.
Thanks for the details Cassandra!
Insane yoga woman is too much! That is just not right! I do yoga with my son and I LOVE it. It’s amazing how natural babies are at it. I also wore my hair in a bun like that this week! I is nice enough for work and it is quick enough for me to do on a hectic morning getting myself and my baby boy out the door. Great links! You have a wonderful weekend too!
I know, the bun takes no effort at all, no blow drying, or even washing and you still look cute and pulled together!
Thank you so much Stephanie : ) Have a great weekend.
My pleasure!
OMG…who would let that woman get her hands on their baby?! That is freaking crazy. Child abusers think they are doing good things for the kid too. I’m just sayin’.
And I’m totally trying the bun. Tomorrow. If I can find a sock.
WOW… I couldn’t even finish watching that messed up, torture posing as “baby yoga” video. I am just leaking emotions over that. It is so effin’ sad! I do yoga with my 2 month old and two year old almost every day, and that video just breaks my heart. On a side note… I’ve been reading The Healthy Home Economist non-stop for the last three days. I’m blown away by the wealth of knowledge I’ve soaked up, and I’ll be on my way to my local health food store to get my first jug of RAW milk today! So excited… I’ll bet that stuff tastes delish! I’ll also need to replace all the crap from my kitchen that I’ve thrown out… Who knew almond milk in a carton was so bad!!!
Ah, yes. That is what happened to me when I first came across her blog, I just read it for days! Good for you for switching to raw milk!
@ previous milk comments. Did these studies separate pasteurized milk from raw milk? Sara @thehealthyhomeeconomist is doing a raw milk fast. Raw milk does, in fact, contain all of the enzymes needed to digest the protein in it. Most studies on milk don’t differentiate because pasteurized milk has become a universal standard. The health problems from milk are modern problems, they are not documented in the history of mankind which has been traditionally using milk to nourist and heal people.
@stephanie for detox I’ve been doing the dry brush challenge @ http://divinehealthfromtheinsideout.com/2012/02/take-the-dry-skin-brushing-challenge/
and lovin’ it!
Thanks for your input! I totally agree. And thanks for the dry brush detox link, I am gonna check that out now!
