Fig Pie

Fig Pie

Remember the blueberry pie post I did a few weeks ago? Well, I did fig version recently and it was AMAZING! The figs were from a local farm.

Fig Pie

Peeled all the figs and that took forever! Then I chopped them up like so. I only sprinkled a bit of sugar on them, like the recipe calls for, so its a very naturally sweet tasting pie.

I am still learning how to roll out the pie crust made from scratch. So my pie crust topping is a little kooky looking. Whatever. It was delicious.

  1. I love how the top of your pie looks!!! I thought it was super fancy :)

Why did you peel the figs? I can Fig Perserves and the figs do not need to be peeled, only rinsed. The pie sounds delicious and I will have to give it a try. I have made Fig Cake before. It was a hit with the Ladies Church Group. It’s nice to have recipes whenever there is an overabundance of figs. Thanks for sharing your recipes.

    • From what I read, some people peel them and some don’t. I thought I would try it peeled. It took a long time, so I will have to try it skin on next time and see how it tastes.

  3. This pie looks beautiful and I am sure it is delicious as well! Great recipe –glad I stumbled on your site!
