I intended for this to be a post about eating local, farm-fresh foods, but today is turning out to be pretty insane for me. So instead, its just a show and tell of a cutie patootie picture of Penelope eating her new favorite: blackberries!

Adorable!!! Where did you get the blackberries from?
I was going to ask about the blackberries but Rachel beat me to it – and what is she eating them out of? We haven't had much luck with the mesh feeder so far.
I got them from our local farmers market. If you are local, its the one on Wednesday's at Lake Ella. Turkey Hill Farm grew them. They are about to be done harvesting them, if they are not done already.
I pureed them up, but left the consistency pretty chunky. I put the puree in an empty baby food glass container. When we were on vacation the other week, I had bought some Earth's Best organic baby food to see what she would do. Then I just reused the jar. She was so excited about blackberries that she wanted to take the jar and lick it!
She mostly eats finger foods, but I have been spoon feeding her one thing a day. Mostly egg yolk, but other things too. Tonight I made a beet puree that she sorta liked.
@Carolyn…what have you been putting in the mesh feeder?
Great picture and great timing for me
… We just fed our first non-milk food (bananas) earlier this evening. Food is definitely an adventure I look forward to!
@Melissa…Congratulations! Each milestone is so fun and exciting.
That is adorable!
Hi there:
Just discovered your website – absolutely fantastic. Great snap of your little Bambina. How old was she? My sister will be starting my 4 month old niece Karys on solids soon and I would love to glean as much info from you as I can.
Cheers and thanks again.
Marni
She was a little over 6 months old in this photo, it is one of my favorite shots of her.
